skiing & ski resorts IN KAPRUN
fun on the slopes in kaprun
Wide glacier pistes, natural snow from autumn, perfectly groomed slopes, excellent freeriding and modern funparks – the resort on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier has something for everyone. On the opposite side of the valley there is another top resort, Schmittenhöhe, ideal for families and beginners.
SKI-IN / SKI-OUT
The new 3K K-onnection cable car connects the village centre of Kaprun to the Maiskogel mountain and continues on to Langwied in the ski resort. Up at the top, 3,000 metres above sea level, await fabulous views and an extra-long descent all the way back down into the valley.
SCHMITTENhöhe
On the opposite side of the valley is the Schmittenhöhe ski resort, an alternative to the ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn mountain.
In late 2021 the resort will open a state-of-the-art cable car called the zellamseeXpress connecting Schmittenhöhe with Saalbach-Hinterglemm - thereby creating the largest interconnected ski area in Austria with 347 km of pistes for everyone from beginners to experts.
Schmittenhöhe can be accessed quickly and easily from Kaprun by car and using public transport.
the family mountain in kaprun
With its gentle slopes and cosy wooden huts, Maiskogel is a firm favourite with families. There is an excellent beginners' area at Lechnerberg, where visitors will find easy pistes, ski schools and a large adventure world for kids.
