I imagined the same, the forest path winds incessantly towards the sky.
It gets warm as the tour leaves the forest and the view becomes clear on the glaciated peaks of the Hohe Tauern … I’m on a mountain bike tour in Kaprun and it’s just wonderful on the way from the valley up to the mountains!
Mountain bikers will find a true paradise at the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. Whether high-condition uphillers, e-bikers or adrenaline-addicted freeriders – the Kitzsteinhorn offers perfectly tailored trails and routes for all variants of biking.
From mid-June to mid-September, the freeride trails are open to all downhillers. From high alpine to natural, the three trails show themselves and demand the endurance of the freeriders at a total of 12 kilometers and 1,500 meters of altitude.
E-bikers will find a free charging station at 2,450 m at the Gletschermühle restaurant. Persistent mountaineers enjoy the scenically unique ascent from Kaprun via the Maiskogel up to the Alpincenter at 2,450 m.
In 2002, Kaprun was in the spotlight of the still young mountain bike scene. Torrential rain in the final of the cross-country competitions. Can you remember? Today, more than 15 years later, the Maiskogel is still a mountain bike tour insider tip and several tours lead to the Gh. Glockner view and over beautiful trails into the valley. Between Kaprun Castle, guggenbichl and Lechnerberg, you can follow the legendary CC circuit of the 2002 World Championships.
